COMPENSATION:  $ 17.814 - $ 20.948

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position will aid the acute and ambulatory care department with duties to assist with functioning and maintaining patient, staff and departmental needs. This position is responsible for purchasing/receiving of medical supplies, reception and occasional registration of Emergency patients. It requires strong administration skills and is responsible for filing, faxing and other clerical duties as assigned. She / he will manage ordering of all supplies for both departments, assist with payroll and be a clerical support to both the ward and the emergency department. This position is responsible for accurate data entry of patient’s information into the computer, and to validate OHIP cards as required. This position will have a large customer service component with a combined responsibility to maintain supplies and assist with staff call ins and data / record keeping.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will possess a College Diploma in Medical Office Administration or equivalent Medical/Administrative education/experience.  The candidate must also have excellent knowledge of medical terminology, accurate keyboarding skills (40wpm) and an ability to comprehend and work effectively and efficiently with multi-task computer software systems.  In addition, they will have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, patients and the community, as well as an ability to work independently.  Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and an ability to adapt to continually changing priorities and pressures are essential for this position.  A knowledge of work processes and patient flow within a Hospital are an asset.
